Pond Construction, Design and Installation
Aqualife designed, supplied and installed the Pond of the Tatoi Club. Furthermore currently operates the Life Support Systems of the pond on a weekly basis. We constructed the pond using Pondgard EPDM Liner by Firestone. It is connected to the filtration system through overflow skimmers and the bottom tank connectors. By this way the Life Support Systems collect the organic waste of the fish from the bottom of the pond. On the other hand, the organic debris such as dead leaves and soil dust, are skimmed to our mechanical filtration.
The oxygen level on the water in Tatoi Club Pond is retained on high levels by using a top of the line, industrial air blower. The pond has no cascade rockwork. Our Life Support System filtrates the water of the pond by 2 times per hour and gets disinfected by a powerful UV equipment and Ozonizer. It has a triple mechanical and double biological filtration. Our system specifications allow low cost maintenance and operation. We feed daily over 2kg of high quality Koi food.
Moreover a great add to our Life Support System is the natural planted refugium design around the pond. We have planted pond plants and hydrophilic plants all over the perimeter around the pond. As a result, the water returns back from our Life Support System and the plants absorb any nutrients left from the shallow water as it flows through them. Consequently the water quality remains pristine having 0% of phosphates and nitrates which would contribute on the growth of algae. The green stuff that everybody hates in a pond.
A proof of our success is that our Koi fish have been in the pond for less than a year and they already breeding. Moreover the offsprings survive and thrive.Tatoi Club Recreational Koi Japanese Pond
